Hi guys - here we just take a quick look at the Thursday League as we approach the run in. With only five games to go it's a good time to see just who is in with a chance of honours and who on the other hand is in a relegation battle.
Ok lets start with the 1st division, hell how tight is this one? The battle at the top of this division looks set to go right down to the last game. Bpl Subs and FCC are level at the top, then come Park Club B just 2 points behind. In 3rd place Clev Mens A are just a further 3 points away. You have to feel that the top three will come from this group of teams, the two teams from The Club and even Norbreck A are still within reach, but it looks like a tall order now for any of these to break into the top three. You never know though, a sudden 7-0 win and its a different ball game. This division always seems to provide a close finish to the season and this time is no exception. Again the next few weeks will be vital as teams jockey for position. At the bottom it is incredibly tight. Don't forget, 4 teams will have to drop from this division (with only 2 coming up) to even out the numbers in the two divisions. So with four relegation places to be filled who is looking most likely? Well South Shore have been rooted to the bottom for a while and so you have to feel that its probably a big ask for them to avoid the drop. Its not impossible though because they are only a mere 7 points from the safety zone! It only needs one big win! Above them and with only a point more are Bispham Cons, and above them with just a couple more are Carleton B. Then with just one point more are Fwd Mens A. So those are the bottom four but just above them Clev Mens B only have three more points and then with a couple more are Ashley A, so these are all still in the mix. Even the teams above them are still close points wise, so its still possible for Fwd Cons B and Norbreck B to be involved in the dogfight if they should have a couple of bad results. Again I think this close battle will go to the wire.
So who is looking with anticipation at joining the big boys in the 1st division? Well this is one division that looks to be decided already. Fwd Cons A and Park Club A are level at the top of the 2nd division and are a country mile above the rest. So the only thing left to decide here is who will be champions and who will be runners-up, because it would take some kind of miracle for it to be anyone other than these two teams getting promoted.
