OBITUARY
It is with much sadness that I have to report the loss recently of two of our senior players. Bob Peel from Park Club Cleveleys sadly passed away in the last few days after a sudden illness, and a few weeks ago we lost Bill Marshall from Bispham Bowling Club, both will be sadly missed.
And now this week I have been informed of the tragic death of yet another player from the Park Club. John Rushton. He was one of the 'young' Vets, only in his early 60's I would say, he was rushed into hospital and died before they could do anything for him. Very sad indeed.
PLESE SEE REVIEW OF THE SEASON SO FAR.....IN THE NOTES ABOVE...
Welcome to Fylde-Snooker.com
proudly sponsored by ICMS of Fleetwood........
A big welcome to all snooker players and indeed all visitors to this site. We have come a long way since we first set out on this journey, and my aim was always to have a website that was accessible to all, where players could come and have a look and see how their mates got on, or see how a rival team had fared. The end of this season is something of a landmark for me, as I have then been doing this job for 10 years. Many of you will remember what things were like back then, when you had to send your results in on little postcards! Yes we have come a long way, and now we can all be proud of what we have achieved. I am always pleased to hear the complimentary things that are said about the website and how well it works. Well it does indeed work very well, however, we have been plagued with all kinds of glitches and I am pleased to say that we have been having some work done to iron these out. I am sure you will have all noticed the new look to the home page, and behind the scenes there are also improvements being done that are not quite as visible. This latest phase of improvements will I hope sort out many of the minor issues that we have had and also make the site easier for me to manage by giving me more control over certain key areas. As always, I rely on you people to give me the necessary feedback where you do encounter any technical issues on the site, it may take a while to sort them out but rest assured your input is very much appreciated. It is thanks to you that we have one of the best sporting websites around because, unlike many others, our website updates immediately the results are entered by both captains. Both the detailed result and the correct table position are shown as soon as both captains enter their result correctly, and it is this that makes our website stand out from the rest!
As always I am happy to answer your questions and queries about the website or any other snooker issue, my contact details :

If you are fairly new to this site and have been asked to enter results please just scroll down a little now and read the notes I added some time ago, that sum up the way it works and tells you exactly why a team ends up getting penalised. If everyone followed these simple rules then no-one would ever get points deducted.
Last seasons special awards were:
Young Player of the Year: Winner: Jason Tart (Carleton)
The other nominees were: Richard Owen (The Club) - Chris Littlewood (Fwd Cons & Highbury) - Scott Forbes (Legion) - Mike Foran (CWM)
Player of the Year: Winner: Dave Brandes (The Club)
The other nominees were: Mike Pearson (Norbreck) - Peter Hamer (The Club) - Frank Littlewood (Highbury) - Dave Fitzgerald - (The Tank)
Team captain of the Year: Brian Vowell (Fwd Bowling Vets)
The other nominees were: Dave Stephenson (Highbury) - Martin Briggs (CWM) - John Walker (Fwd Golf) - Bob Rainbow (The Club)
And finally the Merit Award, my personal choice for a long standing player who has shown outstanding qualities of loyalty and sportsmanship over the years. The award went to Ron Kennedy (FCC)
A FEW EXTRA NOTES FOR THOSE WHO ARE NEW TO ENTERING RESULTS:
Just a little extra info for anyone who is fairly new to the result reporting system (or a bit rusty from last time!!) Firstly the most important thing is that you do need the password, there is just one password for each club, if you don't know it you will need to email or ring the League Sec. Secondly you do NOT use log in on the main menu. You need to click 'club log-in' which you will find right at the top of the page in lower case letters. From there it is straight forward, just make sure you have picked the correct team from the drop down menu ie A-Tue 1st division then scroll down till you find this weeks fixture and click 'add result', then simply make sure you put the correct match score in the boxes. Then, the boxes below are laid out like the new score sheets, click on the the first larger box and you will get a drop down list of players who are eligible to play on that night. Select the correct player name and then go down to the second box etc. Do the same on the other side for all 6 boxes until you then have 12 player names entered. Then add the handicaps for all 12 players and finally scores for each player. Double check all the information you have entered before clicking on 'save'. If at that stage you get an 'error' page come up it is probably because you entered all the names etc but forgot to put the match score at the top!
The system for result entering works like this: once both captains have entered the result it then appears on the results page and at the same time the table is updated to show the changes the result has made. If only one captain has entered the result it will remain hidden until the other captain also enters the same result, only then will the result be displayed on the general results section and be reflected in the table. If, however, the two captains enter a different result it gets flagged up to me when I log in, as a disputed score. I then investigate to see who has made an error. If you have been asked to enter the score of your match but when you come to enter it you are unsure of the final score, you are better to enter it anyway and then if its wrong you can go in the following day and correct it. If you delay and then miss the deadline the site will deduct points from your total when you finally enter the result. But its easy enough to go in and amend the result the next day, so even if you don't know the score, you should enter something before the Friday night deadline!
If anyone has any questions about it please feel free to email me. As I'm sure you will appreciate it is important that the information submitted by both captains is exactly the same, please ensure that the two score sheets tally before leaving the match. Also, when you have entered your results go to the Results page and see if its been posted there. If its not then that probably means that the other team have not yet entered theirs. Check again the following day, if in any doubt then log back in and check over your entry again ensuring you have all details in right. that of entering the wrong name!!
AS MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY, CAN ALL CAPTAINS ENSURE THAT THEY HAVE ARRANGED FOR A 'BACK-UP' PERSON TO INPUT THEIR SCORE SHOULD THEY OR THEIR USUAL PERSON BE ABSENT OR HAVE PC OR PERSONAL PROBLEMS THAT PREVENT THEM GETTING ONLINE TO INPUT YOUR MATCH SCORE
Please just scroll down a little now and read the notes I added some time ago, in red text, that sums up the way it works and points out exactly why a team ends up getting penalised. If everyone followed these simple rules then no-one would ever get points deducted.
All captains would be wise to read the notes I have posted regarding result reporting, especially new captains, so you are sure what you are doing. The important thing to remember about the result reporting system is that you must check the 'Results' section on the site, the day after you have entered your result, because if the score is there but not the players names etc then it is most likely that one of you has made an error. Then you should firstly double check your entry to make sure its not you! Then it would be advisable to contact the other captain if only to double check that your sheet tallies with his! Using this method no team should ever have points deducted. But if it comes to Sunday night and there is a match that does not have the details showing then I have to investigate and then whoever has caused the problem is penalised. As I have said many times before you are not penalised for making a simple mistake but you are penalised for not bothering to check your result and not trying to find the cause of the problem and rectify it.
